Ramm Botanicals

Operating out of two sites on the beautiful Central Coast of New South Wales, the world-class tissue culture laboratory is located at Somersby, whilst the young plant nursery, R&D facility and administration offices are located on the Pacific Highway at Tuggerah.

The company is responsible for marketing, propagation and distribution of tissue cultures and young plants to both domestic and export markets. Ramm Botanicals principally supplies ornamental and landscape varieties to the domestic and commercial markets, however the other significant crop produced is teak for plantation timber.

Launch of Bush DiamondRamm Botanicals does not supply direct to the public, nor to retailers, rather, they supply many hundreds of wholesale growers in Australia with rooted young plants. In turn, these growers either finish supplied plant material or use Ramm Botanicals elite young plants as the basis for their cutting programs.

The Anigozanthos (kangaroo paw) breeding program is the world's biggest. Ramm Botanicals distribute kangaroo paws as tissue cultures to many markets including USA, Europe and Japan.

The Gardens have on display a great selection of DownUnder Wonders varieties such as the dainty brachyscomes from the Pacific series, the cheerful Coronidium Sunny Daze, the profuse flowering Ozothamnus Radiance, a range of colourful Scaevola and a fabulous display of the Alyogyne West Coast Gem to name a few.

This stunning purple flower produces masses of buds, which when in flower provide a spectacular contrast to their vivid dark green foliage. The flowers are large and are reminiscent of a Spanish ladies flamenco skirt.

Dam Savers varieties are plants that are tough, require low maintenance, will perform over the long term and need little to no additional watering above natural rain fall.

Examples of the Dam Savers range can be seen in The Gardens, such as – Hardenbergia Purple Spray, Pandorea Auzzie Bellz, Limonium Perezii Blue (pictured right) and Melaleuca Claret Tops, these plus many more provide fabulous colour to the garden.
